Description from the seller
French table service for 8 people – Digoin & Sarreguemines, model 'Veritable Opaque de Nemours' – France, mid-20th century
Elegant and authentic French tableware service produced by the historic manufacturer Digoin & Sarreguemines, one of the most important names in European ceramics between the 19th and 20th centuries.
The label on the back clearly states 'Veritable Opaque de Nemours – France,' a guarantee of quality, durability, and production intended for both domestic use and high-level catering.
The decor, sober and refined, features stylized autumn leaves in warm tones of yellow, green, and rust, applied with balance on an ivory background. A discreet naturalistic motif, typical of the French taste of the first half of the twentieth century, capable of adapting to both classic and rustic-elegant settings.
Particularly appreciable are the faceted lines of the soup tureen and the bowl/salad bowl, an uncommon detail that gives the service a strong decorative presence and a formal quality above the average.
Composition of the service (complete for 8 people)
8 flat plates
• 8 soup plates
8 dessert dishes
• 1 soup tureen with lid
• 1 large bowl / salad bowl
• Two small-sized oval serving trays.
Conditions:
Good overall condition, consistent with age. There are evident signs of time: slight wear of the gold plating on the edges, micro surface scratches, and small imperfections from use, as visible in the photo. No structural damage. The item is solid, usable, and retains a beautiful original patina.
Era: mid-20th century (circa 1940–1950).
Production: France.
An authentic, complete, and increasingly sought-after set, ideal for collectors of French ceramics, for an elegant table with a retro touch, or for decorative use with great charm.
Careful packaging and professional shipping protection.
