Worn on the top of the head, unlike most African zoomorphic Bamileke masks, this type of tribal mask is carved from a dense, heavy wood.
The sets of masks called 

Porté sur le sommet de la tête, contrairement à la plupart des masques africains zoomorphe Bamileke, ce 
type de masque tribal est sculpté dans un bois dense et lourd.
Les ensembles de masques dits "de lignage" sont présents dans tout le Grassland 
Camerounais, et sont exhibés lors des fêtes commémoratives. Outre les masques 
anthropomorphes, on y retrouve différents animaux tels que buffles, singes, moutons, chauve
souris, ou différentes espèces d'oiseaux. Ce type de masque se porte sur le sommet de la tête, à 
l'horizontale.

Ce masque est assez rare et recherché.
Epoque : 1930/1950.
Collecte : en fonction du "langage" et du style de la sculpture, j'ai déterminé qu'elle venait très certainement de la région de Bamenda au Cameroun.
Provenance : collection privée belge.
