Description from the seller
Charming set of two handcrafted blown glass pieces, most likely from the Murano workshops (Venice, Italy) of the 1950s-1970s. These multifunctional decorative objects (ashtrays, catch-all dishes, or paperweights) showcase two emblematic techniques of Venetian glass with great mastery:
The multicolored piece (on the left): a round ashtray/paperweight made using millefiori 'confetti' (or scramble millefiori) technique, featuring a joyful yellow dominance mixed with multicolored inclusions (white, green, red, touches of other hues). The dispersed 'confetti' effect creates a playful and vibrant appearance, typical of Fratelli Toso productions or similar mid-century pieces.
The green piece (on the right): an organic ashtray in the shape of a leaf or shell, made of translucent olive green glass with a bubbling effect (controlled bubbles trapped within the mass). The regular bubbles and fluid shape evoke the classic creations of Archimede Seguso or Barovier & Toso, where light plays beautifully through the inclusions.
Dimensions :
- Millefiori confetti yellow/multicolored ashtray: diameter approximately 10 cm, height approximately 5 cm
- Green bubbling ashtray: diameter 12 cm, height 7 cm, weight approximately 750 g
Excellent condition for vintage pieces: crystal-clear and shiny glass, with no notable chips or cracks. A few tiny signs of use (normal for their age) add to their authenticity.
Note on the origin: I am not 100% certain of the provenance, but the style, techniques (millefiori confetti and bullicante), and quality strongly suggest productions from Murano from the 1950s-1970s.
A duo full of personality, color, and light, perfect for retro-pop decor or an Italian glass collection. These pieces add a joyful, handcrafted touch to a coffee table, desk, or shelf.
The lot will be shipped with extreme care, in reinforced and insured professional packaging.
