Unknown manufacturer Building Block Set, Boxed, in a wooden box with a variety of solid wooden blocks including arches, columns, roof sections and decorative pieces, good antique condition and measures 34 cm wide, 21 cm deep and 3 cm high.
Description from the seller
Early 20th-century wooden construction toy set, originating from Central Europe (Germany/Austria region), housed in its original sliding wooden box.
The set consists of a variety of solid wooden building blocks in different shapes and sizes, including architectural elements such as columns, arches, roof sections and decorative blocks. Several pieces feature original hand-applied geometric patterns and lithographed details, characteristic of educational construction toys from the pre-war period.
The original wooden box is complete and retains its illustrated lid, showing a period architectural scene. A small printed publisher’s mark is present on the illustration. The blocks appear to be unbranded, which is typical for early educational toys of this type.
A fine example of early educational and constructive play, inspired by Fröbel-style principles, intended to stimulate creativity, spatial insight and architectural understanding.
Condition:
Good antique condition. The wooden blocks show age-related wear and patina consistent with use and age. The box and illustrated lid show signs of wear and minor imperfections, but remain intact and original (see photos).
