Description from the seller
This octagonal Chinese porcelain plate, made during the Qing dynasty and dating back to the Qianlong era (1736-1795), is a refined example of 'family rose' craftsmanship. The polychrome decoration, finely executed, depicts a genre scene set in a garden: elegantly dressed figures interact on a covered terrace, while architectural and floral details peek through in the background, enriching the composition. The warm tones of pink and red, typical of the 'family rose' palette, harmonize with delicate green and blue shades, adding depth and vibrancy to the figurative narrative.
The decorative band running along the octagonal border features floral and ornamental motifs in underglaze blue tones, enlivened by red inserts with geometric patterns that emphasize its elegance. The balance between the central scene and the rich frame reflects the technical and artistic skill achieved in Chinese porcelain workshops during the Qianlong reign, a period renowned for the high quality of productions intended both for the domestic market and export.
A collectible object of remarkable value, capable of fully representing the decorative splendor and narrative taste typical of 18th-century China.
Please note that the item has been restored, and a long crack is visible in the photo.
