Dark green full Morrocco binding with gilt lettering and a gilt ornament by M. Behmer on the cover, gilt decorated and lettered spine, and gilt top edge. Limited edition of 1,300 copies of this collection of poems by Goethe. Beautifully illustrated with a two-page title design and engraved initials throughout by M. Behmer, who also designed the binding. Rubbing, bumping, wear, some scratching, and tanning to the boards and spine. The original green colour faded away on the spine and the edges of the boards. Pencil markings on the back pastedown endpaper. Very little browning and spotting throughout. The text and illustrations are clear, and the binding is solid. Overall, a nice copy in very good- condition.
