Dinner plate - Chinese hard-paste porcelain
Blue and White Charger, 17th–18th Century, Chinoiserie
Large blue and white charger decorated with floral and bird motifs in the Chinoiserie style, inspired by Chinese porcelain of the Ming and Qing dynasties. The design features a central roundel surrounded by a wide, finely painted border.
The underside bears a hand-painted leaf mark within a double circle, related to the so-called artemisia leaf mark, often associated with Chinese porcelain of the Kangxi period (circa 1662–1722), though similar marks were also used on European imitations, particularly Delft faience.
Painted in cobalt blue under a clear glaze. Possibly Chinese porcelain or European tin-glazed earthenware (Delftware).
Condition: One charger has a small chip. A light hairline crack runs across the entire reverse of the plate; this crack is not visible on the front.
