Description from the seller

Beautiful, original Dagobert chair dating from around 1890!

This handmade chair is richly and finely decorated with woodcarving, including lion heads on the armrests and a detailed motif on the backrest.

Made of solid wood, this chair is still fairly sturdy and stable after all these years. The chair is surprisingly beautiful for its age.

This is an original chair over 125 years old, so not the chair from the 1960s whose backrest can be removed and that can be folded.

A unique piece of history!

Extra info 1:
The chair is also known as Savonarola, Dante, or X-frame chair. This type of chair was named Savonarola in the 19th century, after Girolamo Savonarola, an Italian priest who lived in Florence from 1494 to 1498. The design is derived from an ancient Roman 'X'-shaped chair that was popular in medieval Italy. It is one of the oldest forms of chairs or stools, with examples dating back to the 2nd millennium BC.

Extra info 2:
We mainly sell vintage items. Please review all the photos, as they are also part of the description. The items are often many decades old and may therefore show general signs of aging and use, such as small scratches, scuffs, dents, patina, and so on.
