This is a rare and highly collectible Moynat steamer trunk, handcrafted in Paris during the early 20th century. Moynat, founded in 1849, is one of the oldest and most prestigious French trunk makers, known for its fine craftsmanship and innovations in travel goods.
This trunk features:
• Original brass “Sûreté” lock (key not included)
• Stamped leather handles with “MOYNAT FABRICANT PARIS”
• Patinated brass/copper hardware with hand-riveted details
• Original Moynat interior label showing historical Paris showroom addresses
• Canvas-covered wooden body, with leather reinforcements
• Unrestored original interior, showing some wear consistent with age
• Hand-painted initials “M.J.” and remnants of vintage travel labels
