Today, an exceptional piece from the Italian manufacturer Marlen is for sale, belonging to the Egizia collection, a tribute to the iconography and mysticism of Ancient Egypt.

This unit corresponds to the piston load version (more sought-after and complex than the lateral button or cartridge version), limited to only 588 pieces worldwide, with this being number 192.

Technical specifications and materials

• Body and cap: Hand-turned from high-density Italian resin bar. The material features a stratified pattern in shades of orange, terracotta, and translucent amber, interspersed with rings of mother-of-pearl resin and bands with glitter particles that add depth and chatoyancy (cat's eye effect) under light.

Goldsmithing Work (Overlay): The central element of the shaft is a wide band in solid Sterling Silver (Ag 925) carved in high relief, depicting the profile of a pharaoh with a traditional headdress. The rings of the cap and the foot are also made of solid silver, engraved with geometric motifs and stylized hieroglyphs.

Loading system: integrated piston. Unlike the more basic models of Marlen, this pen features a real piston mechanism operated by unscrewing the rear blind cap. The mechanism operates smoothly and allows for a large ink capacity.

Nib: Solid 18-karat gold (750), bi-color (rhodium plating over yellow gold).
