Daphnis and Chloe is a Greek novel attributed to Longus, an author about whom little is known, and dated to the 2nd or 3rd century of the Gregorian calendar. It is a prose pastoral, or bucolic novel, whose theme is the birth and development of love between two adolescents.
Behind an apparent simplicity, this novel leads an important reflection on the relationship between nature and culture.
This is the most famous Greek novel. However, it stands out compared to other works of the genre and occupies a special place within the Greek novel genre.
