Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Massive protobiface tool in flint from the early Acheulean, dating to about 800,000 BP, 115 x 90 mm, with much cortex preserved and a pointed form, originating from Seguiet el Hamra, Western Sahara, in excellent condition and acquired from a private collection in Belgium with no restorations and an authenticity certificate provided with each lot.
Description from the seller
Massive protobiface with a reserved base from the early Acheulean, a typical tool of H. erectus who lived at that time. These tools are regarded as transitional pieces between the earlier choppers/chopping tools and the fully edge-flaked hand axes. Characteristic is the preservation of a large part of the cortex and, with a minimum of removals, the effort to achieve a pointed form. These protobifaces are not common in large assemblages. Made from chert/flint. Originating from the Western Sahara, Seguiet el Hamra.
Few to no signs of use and in excellent condition. See photos.
