Small heraldic seal in brass – 18th century
Small brass seal, entirely hand-carved.
The handle of the forged brass matrix is typical of pieces from the 18th to early 19th century, featuring a top perforation that once allowed it to be hung from a chain or a bunch of keys.
The engraved face features a quartered shield, surrounded by rich heraldic decoration.
Heraldic animals, likely lions.
arms, scepters or command staffs
stars, various symbols
foliage and ornamental fillings
Naive but dense engraving, typical of small private stamps used for marking correspondence, books, or family documents.
Dimensions: height 3 cm - matrix: diameter 2 cm
Condition: engraving still clearly legible.
