Description from the seller

A hand-knotted prayer rug from Karapinar, knotted at the beginning of the 20th century. The motifs and colors used give this rug a cheerful appearance. The checkered pattern in the two outer borders represents life trees, symbolizing the wish for a long life and reincarnation. The inner borders appear filled with floral motifs, which usually symbolize the paradise garden. The centers of the flowers contain stars, a motif for prosperity and happiness. In the central field, in blue and white colors, sacbagi are depicted. These headbands symbolize the wish to marry. The contrasting blue and white color represents the yin-yang motif; the complementary male and female energies. The deep green color above the prayer rug completes this piece. Most likely, the maker knotted it as a wedding gift for her future husband.
