Japanese Turquoise-Glazed Ceramic Figurative Object with Gilt Decoration and Wooden Box – Shōwa - Stoneware - Japan - 20th century

This is an original Japanese ceramic decorative object, produced in the Shōwa period (20th century). The piece features a stylised Mount Fuji–inspired form, finished in a vivid turquoise glaze with applied gilt decoration around the lower section and sculpted relief details on the body. The underside bears an impressed Japanese seal, attributed to Toshū (東修 / 東秀), indicating studio pottery production rather than mass manufacture. The object comes with its original wooden tomobako, which is hand-inscribed with Japanese calligraphy, confirming its intended presentation as an art object. This piece was clearly intended for decorative and artistic display, not for functional use. The combination of turquoise glaze, sculptural modelling, and gold highlights is characteristic of mid-20th-century Japanese studio ceramics. A fine example of Japanese decorative ceramic art from the Shōwa era. Method of Shipment FedEx or Japan Post NOTICE The lot will be carefully packaged and shipped by FedEx or Japan Post. Delivery usually takes 1–2 weeks. The shipping method may vary depending on the item price and size. Sometimes Customs or the delivery company in your country may contact you by phone or email for clearance. Please make sure you are available to respond. If not, the parcel may be returned to me, and reshipping will cost more than twice the original shipping fee. I appreciate your cooperation.
