Description from the seller

Shiva Mukhalinga. Cast bronze in lost-wax process and chiseled.
The Mukha (face) Linga in bronze was used to give a face to the abstract Linga of Shiva.
The Linga is a phallic symbol representing Shiva's power and, at the same time, its mystical nature as a cosmic egg.
This Mukhalinga has a bearded and aristocratic face. It has the third eye.
He wears a Maratha turban and has pierced ears where gold or silver earrings used to be.
Good condition, worn out and polished by devotional use.
Height: 12 cm, weight: 463 g.
India, Maharashtra 18th / 19th century
