Garrard 86SB is a heavier, audiophile module from Garrard's later belt-driven line. It is a single-play automatic transcription turntable with an integrated arm, wooden plinth, polished NM-state dust cover, and fixed wiring.
The 86SB uses the well-known Garrard Synchro-Lab synchronous motor with belt drive and a heavy 293 mm zinc platter for stable speed and low rumble. The aluminum tonearm features a calibrated bias compensator (anti-skate) and can accommodate cartridges with a tracking force of approximately 0.75–1.0 g. Cueing is viscous-damped, both in manual and automatic operation.
