Van Halen, 1 item, 5150, first pressing, released in 1986 by Warner Bros. in the United States and factory-sealed with the original hype sticker.
Description from the seller
1. General Information
Artist: Van Halen
Title: 5150
Label: Warner Bros. Records
Catalog Number: 9 25394-1
Format: Vinyl, LP, Album, First Pressing
Country: US
Released: 1986
Grading Authority: AMG (Audio Media Grading)
2. Description
5150 is the seventh studio album by legendary rock band Van Halen and serves as the high-energy introduction of Sammy Hagar as lead vocalist. This specific copy is a factory-sealed original US pressing from the initial 1986 run. The cover art, featuring a bodybuilder holding a massive metallic sphere, remains one of the most recognizable images of 80s rock. This copy still bears its original hype sticker, which highlights the hit single "Why Can't This Be Love," and a vintage retail price tag from "Janis Music," adding to its "time-capsule" charm.
note - It's a very rare sticker variant that I’ve only seen offered online a few times over the past 10 years.
3. Condition
Overall Grade: AMG 7 (Very Good / VG+)
Status: Factory Sealed
Jacket/Shrink: The jacket is preserved in its original factory shrink wrap. It has been professionally graded a 7 by AMG in 2024. The seal is intact, and the hype sticker is excellently preserved. A vintage price sticker ($6.99) is present on the top left.
Vinyl: Assumed Mint (M) as the record remains unplayed and hermetically sealed within the original packaging.
4. Notes for Collectors
FIRST PRESSING: This is an authentic first US pressing, not a later reissue or club edition. For serious collectors, identifying the 1986 original is crucial for both historical value and potential audio fidelity.
Investment Grade: Because this item is slabbed and graded by Audio Media Grading (AMG), the condition of the sleeve is locked in and protected from further wear, humidity, or handling.
Hype Sticker: Includes the original brown/copper hype sticker (1-25394) on the front, which is a key requirement for "completionist" collectors.
Historical Context: This album hit #1 on the Billboard 200, proving Van Halen could thrive after the departure of David Lee Roth. Finding a sealed copy in this condition 40 years later is increasingly rare.
5. Matrix/Labels
Barcode: 0 7599-25394-1
Catalog Number on Spine/Sticker: 9 25394-1 / 1-25394
Note: As this item is professionally slabbed and factory sealed, the matrix runout numbers and center labels are not visible. However, the external identifiers confirm its status as a 1986 Warner Bros. original.
