Justus Lipsius, Analecta / Poliorceticon Sive de Machinis, a single illustrated Latin volume with two rare works on ancient Roman warfare, bound in parchment and containing 264 pages and 36 full-page engravings by Pieter van der Borcht, published in Antwerp by Ex Officina Plantiniana between 1602 and 1605.

The volume brings together, bound together, two rare beautifully illustrated works by the Flemish philologist and historian Justus Lipsius (1547–1606). They are two important treatises on military techniques and tools, especially of ancient Rome, among the few Lipsian writings on military matters.
Analecta or Remaining Observations on the Military and These Books, Antwerp, at the Plantin Press by Johannes Moretus, 1602.
pp.: XXIX, (VII). Complete, with some engravings in the text.
2) Poliorceticon or On Machines of War, with missiles. Five books for the illumination of histories. Third edition, corrected and expanded, Antwerp, at the Plantin Press by Joannes Moretus, 1605.
PP.: 219, (IX). Complete, with 36 engravings, including full-page ones, by Pieter van der Borcht.
Item with cards in overall very good condition. Usual signs of use and age.
Excellent modern binding in full parchment with gold title on the spine and decorative motifs on the boards, very well preserved. White endpapers.
