- This is a 1/20 scale plastic assembly kit, measuring 220 mm in length and 108 mm in width.
- The low, sleek body shape is faithfully reproduced.
- The front and rear cowlings are separate components and can be removed, allowing you to view the cockpit, engine, and suspension even after completion.
- The distinctive wing-shaped underside of the side pontoons is replicated exactly as on the real car.
- A metal air funnel cover is included, giving the Ford DFV engine a highly detailed and realistic finish.
- Newly designed rubber tires are provided.
- Two types of decals are included: Car No. 5 and Car No. 6.
- Two types of roll bars and side pontoon air outlets are included, allowing you to build either Mario Andretti’s British GP or German GP car, or Ronnie Peterson’s version.

Introduced as the perfected evolution of the innovative wing‑car Lotus Type 78 from 1977, the Lotus Type 79 made its debut at the sixth round of the 1978 Belgian Grand Prix. By relocating the rear suspension inboard and redesigning the placement of the fuel tanks and exhaust system, the car maximized the Venturi effect and delivered overwhelming speed.
Mario Andretti immediately showcased its potential with a pole‑to‑flag victory, and together with Ronnie Peterson, the pair continued their dominant campaign throughout the season. Andretti claimed five wins, Peterson added another, and the team secured both the Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships before the final round.
With its stunning body design and iconic black livery, the Lotus Type 79 earned the nickname “Black Beauty.” It remains one of the most epoch‑making machines in the history of Formula One.
