Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Waterman Ideal Nº 46 fountain pen with a celuloid body and 14k gold-plated cap fittings, 18k gold nib, early 20th century, in good used condition.
Description from the seller
The pen is in very good overall condition, retaining all its original period components, with no signs of replacements, modern repairs, or structural interventions.
The body and cap of ebonite are in solid condition, with no cracks, fissures, or deformations. The surface shows a natural, homogeneous patina, with light superficial wear and fine marks typical of use and age, which do not compromise the integrity of the material at all. The veins and the dark brown tone remain well defined.
The solid gold metallic accessories in 14 karats (clip and cap rings) are preserved intact and securely attached. They show micro-scratches and a soft patina, consistent with age, without dents, breaks, or material loss. The elements retain their original shape and good fit.
The Waterman Ideal fountain pen in solid 18K gold (750) is in very good condition, properly aligned, with no cracks, fissures, or welds. The nib is intact and shows normal wear from use, compatible with functional writing. The ebonite feed is original and retains well-defined fins.
The body and cap threads function correctly, with a firm and smooth closure. The eyedropper loading system is structurally sound, with no visible evidence of leaks or internal damage.
Overall, it is an authentic, well-preserved, and honest pen, with a level of preservation clearly above average for a model of this period, making it ideal for both demanding collectors and careful occasional use.
It will be sent in a courtesy box for proper preservation.
Good auction!
