A hand-made leaf-shaped Bizen ware plate crafted from natural clay indigenous to the Bizen region of Japan. Bizen ware is one of Japan’s most esteemed traditional pottery styles, made without glaze and fired in a traditional wood-fired climbing kiln, which creates rich, natural textures and colours unique to each piece. Kogei Japonica This large plate features a gently contoured leaf form measuring 36.0 cm in width and 2.5 cm in height, with a robust yet organic feel. The unglazed surface reflects the subtle effects of wood ash and flame during the long firing, giving the piece an earthy, tactile presence that harmonises with both rustic and modern table settings.
