De kleinere wijzerplaat links met "Tag/Nacht" (dag/nacht) kan een twee-tariefsmechanisme aanduiden — het registreerde het gasverbruik apart voor dag- en nachturen, een systeem dat vroeger in sommige regio’s voorkwam. De behuizing bronskleurig metaal) diende om het mechaniek te beschermen.Deze gasmeter van Hermann Pipersberg jr. zoals deze is van rond 1900–1930.
