Old complete work with its 2 volumes titled 'Tusculanes' by Cicero, translated by Bouhier and d'Olivet of the French Academy.
Year of publication 1812 in Nismes, by J. Gaude, printer and bookseller.
The books are durable and in good condition, or very good considering their age. Interior very fresh.
Small signs of normal wear and tear on the cover (see photos).
History: The Tusculans are a philosophical work by Cicero, written in 45 BC. In this work, Cicero seeks to establish the immortality of the soul and to demonstrate that happiness can only be based on virtue. It is a manifesto of Stoicism, presented as a report of lectures held with friends at his villa in Tusculum.
