Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Sailor 1911 Maki-e floral fountain pen, made in Japan, with a black lacquered resin body, 14K gold nib, and authentic Maki-e decor in gold, red, and copper tones, length 140 mm and diameter 13.2 mm, in good used condition and in working order.
Description from the seller
This exclusive Sailor 1911 Maki-e is presented in excellent condition, fully preserving its artisanal elegance and the characteristic refinement of the Sailor house. The body, made of lacquered black resin, features a deep, shiny, and uniform finish, on which authentic Maki-e decoration is highlighted, crafted with great precision: flowers and leaves applied in gold, reddish, and copper tones that retain their original intensity and appeal.
The cap maintains all its sharp lines, and the inscriptions '1911' and 'Sailor' remain perfectly defined. The gold-plated clip is secure, aligned, and without looseness. The metal rings show a uniform gold tone, with minimal wear typical of very light handling, but without affecting the overall aesthetics.
The 14K gold nib, perfectly preserved, features a shiny surface with no deformations or signs of misuse. Its characteristic engraving — the Sailor anchor and the 14K mark — remains deep and sharp. The feed is in a clean state and free of visible obstructions, ensuring proper ink flow.
The pen shows no dents, cracks, or fissures. Only superficial micro-marks typical of careful handling are visible, but they do not affect its functionality or overall cosmetic appearance in any way.
Overall, this piece offers both aesthetic and functional value, making it ideal for collectors, Maki-e enthusiasts, or users seeking luxury writing with a Japanese artisanal touch.
It will be sent in a courtesy box for proper preservation.
