A beautifully illustrated copy of this translation of Goethe's tragic play Faust, translated by English writer Abraham Hayward. Illustrated with a colour frontispiece and fifteen colour plates. Collated complete. Considered by many to be Goethe's magnum opus and one of the greatest works of German literature. Faust is a tragic play in two parts mainly written in rhymed verse. Part one focuses on the soul of Faust, which is eventually sold to the Devil, with part two discussing social phenomena such as psychology, history and politics, in addition to mystical and philosophical topics.
