Bronze and marble sculpture titled Bachus, measuring 48 cm high, 14 cm wide and 11 cm deep, signed on the plate, originating from Europe and in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
This does not appear to be a specific 'god,' but rather a bacchante/maenad: a female follower from the circle of Bacchus (Dionysus).
Why I think that:
She holds bunches of grapes up high and also in the other hand/horn. Grapes and wine are the ultimate symbols of Bacchus/Dionysus.
The posture and the half-dancing, festive character align with Bacchantes from classical iconography.
The curved 'horn' filled with fruit is a horn of abundance (cornucopia), often depicted with grapes in Bacchus scenes.
So: a Bacchante (Bacchus/Dionysus figure), not a separate goddess with her own name. The dimensions are approximately:
Height: 37 cm
Width: 12 cm
All our products are well packed and shipped with insurance.
