Description from the seller

Fedoskino + Palekh, late 18th century

The village of Fedoskino is called the 'Homeland of Russian Lacquer.' Located 40 kilometers north of Moscow, it rises on the picturesque bank of the Oka River. Fedoskino is the oldest center of lacquer miniature art in Russia.

A good half of its inhabitants and the villagers from the surrounding areas are connected in one way or another to this long-standing craft. It has been over 200 years since generations of painters have been passing down the secrets of local lacquer here. Good overall condition, various sizes.
