Beautiful 19th-century Norman wedding box that was used.
The box is made of wood (possibly beechwood) and decorated with polychrome paintings of stylized flowers, leaves, and birds, with prominent green, red, and gold-colored edges.
These paintings are characteristic of the folk art from that period.
The box has a curved or 'domed' lid.
It features a dominant, wrought iron lock and latch at the front, with metal hinges at the back, which was common for chests from that period.
Some screws are missing, and there is no key.
The condition of the box, with visible signs of use and patina, confirms its age and authentic, antique character.
Dimensions are 20x10x11.5 cm.
Weight is 412.0 grams.
All the items I offer here come from my grandmother's private collection.
I may use the proceeds to pay for my studies.
