Antique perfume bottle from the United Kingdom, in silver and facet-cut crystal, dating to circa 1900–1910, approximately 9 cm tall, 3.5 cm wide and 1 cm deep, in excellent condition with minimal signs of wear, featuring a solid silver hinged cap, silver neck ring, and an internal glass stopper.
Description from the seller
Elegant perfume bottle (or scent bottle) that combines colored glass and finely worked silver, typically English and dated from the early 20th century (Edwardian era).
Main Features
• Glass Body: The body of the bottle is made of cut (faceted) glass. The facets are complex, featuring large central oval panels and curvilinear shapes that reflect light. The most striking feature is the use of ruby red glass (cranberry) or flashed (coated) with red, which outlines and enhances the sculpted forms in the transparent glass.
• Silver Lid: The upper lid is made of solid silver, probably sterling silver. It features a rich and detailed relief decoration (repoussé or chasing), with floral motifs, scrolls and foliage, evoking the late Victorian/Edwardian style, giving it an opulent air.
• Mechanism: The silver cap is hinged. The neck is reinforced by a silver ring, and the perfume seal is provided by an internal separate glass stopper (visible in the second and third images), which ensures that the perfume does not evaporate.
This object was a luxury accessory used by ladies, either to decorate the dressing table (vanity) or to carry small amounts of perfume for social occasions. The combination of colored glass and silver was highly valued at the time.
Approximately 9 cm by 3.5 cm in width.
Shipping: Shipping costs and customs duties are borne by the buyer for registered mail.
