Description from the seller
Albert Cossery - Proud Beggars - Santa Barbara - Black Sparrow Press - 1981
First edition - 190 pages - hardcover with plastic protective cover - 23.5 x 16 cm
Edition of 200 bound, numbered, and signed copies. This is no. 162.
Condition: very good. See photos.
The plastic protective cover provides very good protection but is quite sensitive to small scratches and friction. The condition refers to the book without plastic protection. The condition of the plastic protective cover is fair to good.
Albert Cossery is a French/Egyptian writer who has authored several books, all of which have become classics and have been published by reputable publishers. This includes Black Sparrow Press.
This was also supposed to be a revival similar to John Fante or a Stoner. So it's still a cult book now.
Beautiful printing as well – really bold, with that lovely orange and blue. This is how books should look!
