The tableau comes with the original certificate of authenticity, on which the front is handwritten: May 19, 1991. It is likely that the work was created around this period.
Artist
Paul van Dort (born 1935, Rotterdam)
Van Dort worked as a ceramic painter at 'De Porceleyne Fles Anno 1653' in Delft from 1951 to 1969, the world-famous producer of Delftware. He received his training there and later specialized in painting landscapes and scenes in color.
Performance
The tiled tableau depicts a classic Dutch polder landscape with a windmill, characteristic farms with red tiled roofs, a water feature, and trees.
