Original edition of the most famous work by Claude Lévi-Strauss, published in the collection 'Terre Humaine.' It is illustrated with a map and more than 50 drawings within the text and on full pages, as well as 63 photographs.
There was no drawing on large paper.
Bound in a lovely full beige canvas binding, with a smooth spine decorated with a black leather title piece and gilded lettering. Covers and spine preserved, with the first one illustrated.
In very good condition. Solid and clean binding, impeccable interior.
This work is a testimony to Lévi-Strauss's travels and his anthropological work. Lévi-Strauss mainly refers to his stays in Brazil but also describes those he made in other countries such as India or the Middle East. Furthermore, although it can be classified within the tradition of philosophical travel narratives, the book is sprinkled with philosophical reflections and ideas from various disciplines such as sociology, geology, music, or literature.
