Description from the seller
This item is a gumball machine. The general history of these machines is fascinating.
Early vending machines appeared at the end of the 19th century, mainly selling chewing gum. Gumball machines like the one in the photo became popular in the early 20th century, with designs that varied over time, from cast-iron bases to more modern materials. Models with a metal base and a glass globe were produced for many decades.
Structure: body in painted metal alloy, sturdy and impact-resistant.
Coin mechanism: by inserting a coin (often 10 or 50 lira in Italy, or 1 cent/5 cent in the USA) and turning the knob, a mechanical system released a single gum or candy.
They also arrived in Europe and Italy in those years, installed in bars, cinemas, tobacconists and game rooms.
In the 1960s they represented a form of popular, carefree consumption: with a coin, a small instant pleasure.
They were ubiquitous in bars, train stations and arcades, becoming part of the daily urban furnishings.
Original gum dispenser, like new and working.
The photos are an integral part of the description.
Shipping costs include careful packing and tracking, ensuring fast delivery times.
