Container - Bamboo, Wood - Batak medicine container

This Indonesian Batak medicine container is made of bamboo with a hand-carved wooden figurine stopper.
The container was traditionally used by a datu (shaman) to store herbs, medicines, and ritual potions.
The carved figure depicts a human figure riding the legendary Naga or Singa, a protective dragon deity image. The etched patterns on the bamboo surface are often a calendar that marks significant days for the use of the contents. We feel that the piece is in overall good original condition with great original patina
