You are bidding on a very fine old American 4/4 violin, made and labeled Grant W. Bliss Syracuse N.Y. Faciebat Anno 1916. The instrument is in ready to play condition with some tears, wears but no cracks. The violin has an excellent straight high grained spruce of the top and one piece back of softly flamed maple with matched sides and scroll with black stripes. The purfling is professionally executed and the edges are masterfully done. The original oil varnish of golden amber color remains in good condition. The whole length of the violin is 590 mm and the back 354 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 165 mm; middle bouts: 110 mm; lower bouts: 212 mm. The sound of this instrument is of a charming character, rich, warm, sweet and beautiful colors, depth and great carrying power. Don't hesitate to contact me for any questions.
