Location: Egypt
Dimensions: 130.5 cm x 87 cm
Provenance: From the collection of a North American priest, acquired between 1981 and 1996.

Context
This lithograph, entitled "El Kab (Elethyia)", is an exceptional work by Charlin, depicting a bas-relief carved on one of the faces of the main cave. It is a proof engraving on laid paper of plate 68 of the first volume of the monumental work "Description of Egypt", with a later support sheet.

The work "Description of Egypt":
Commissioned by Napoleon Bonaparte, this colossal work was completed between 1802 and 1830 and published between 1809 and 1828. Only a thousand copies were distributed to various institutions, printed on laid paper with a watermark "Ancient and Modern Egypt."
