Podstakannik with a Portuguese .833 silver stand and lid and a crystal engraved cup, Russian-inspired and dating to the late 19th to early 20th century, total weight 187 g (stand 82 g, cup 105 g), dimensions 16.5 × 10 cm, in good condition with signs of use.
Description from the seller
Podstakannik (support for a tea cup) of Russian inspiration, consisting of a support and lid in Portuguese .833 silver, accompanied by an engraved crystal cup from the late 19th or early 20th century.
The silver features the Portuguese official hallmark of the pork head with 'II', corresponding to silver 833, used in Portugal between approximately 1887 and 1937, which confirms the authenticity and silver content. The lid is also made of silver.
Design — with a side handle, molded feet, and embossed decoration — follows the traditional Russian model of podstakanniks. The silver structure is richly worked in relief, with vegetal motifs and bunches of grapes, resting on three ornamental feet, and featuring a classic-shaped cut-out side handle.
Elegant and functional piece, representative of the historicist taste of the period, suitable for both collection and decorative use.
