Lamp - Bouillotte - Cast brass

It is a Bouillotte table lamp in brass, a collectible object typical of French Empire style.
It takes its name from a popular 18th-century French card game, where it was originally used to illuminate gaming tables.
The design features curved arms supporting chandelier lights, often shaped like snakes.
The dark lampshade, in Bordeaux color, covered in glossy cardboard, served as a shield for the light, allowing the players not to be blinded.
The object shown is an antique piece, probably dating from the 19th century, made of brass. The lampshade, which is height adjustable, has unfortunately been damaged externally over time, but a new external film can be applied. The country of origin is not certain, but it is presumably France. Signs of age are also visible on the brass base, and if desired, the entire piece can be easily re-polished.
