Jar (2) - Earthenware - Delft - 1700-1750
A lovely pair of 18th century Dutch Delft blue-and-white chinoiserie jars with later wooden covers. The jars are decorated with six panels alternating between lange lijzen (oriental ladies) and landscape scenes featuring houses. Both types of panels contain flowering branches, including prunus blossom. An identically decorated pair was sold at Christie’s, Amsterdam, 2–3 October 2012, for €3,250.
Condition: very good, a few small chips to the rim (typical for Delftware).
Origin: private Dutch collection
Dimensions: 20,8 cm high × 9 cm (⌀ base)
