Antieke 17e eeuwse majolica - Pharmacy jar/ Albarello - Earthenware

Very beautiful antique majolica albarello.

Beautifully decorated with, among other things, North African women's heads, which is quite rare.

Of Italian origin and dating from the 17th century.

The condition is very good, with only age-appropriate signs.

Dimensions: 17 cm high x 10 cm deep.

The term albarello is used for a cylindrical jar with a tapered base and a short, wide neck. In the 15th century, Spanish and Italian potters became famous for their majolica products, including the albarello.

Both the majolica technique and the shape of the albarello were, however, imported from the Middle East.
