Description from the seller

Antique theatre glasses, model Lorgnette. Made in the Art Deco period and style, this is a type of glasses that are held in the hand, so that the two lenses come to rest in front of the eyes without pressing on the contours of the face.

They came to be called 'lorgnettes' and were widely used in the era of Louis XVI, but their use declined after the French Revolution, as a symbol of fashionable worldly life.

They came back into fashion in the nineteenth century and at the beginning of the twentieth century.

The glasses are foldable with a snap-action spring that functions perfectly.

Length (glasses closed): 15.3 cm

Good condition, with only minor damage to the enamel and to the edges of the lenses.

Tracked and insured shipment.
