Rath globe dating to about 1983, constructed from paper on a conical base with a polished metal meridian, 33 cm in diameter and 45 cm tall, in new old stock condition and featuring around 3,000 place names with multi‑colour gores and rich cartographic detail.
Description from the seller
A high-quality hand-laminated political globe by Rath, Germany, dating from the late 20th century. Produced using traditional multi-colour printed paper gores, carefully applied by hand, this globe offers vivid colouring and excellent cartographic clarity.
The globe displays all countries of the world in clear, contrasting colours, accurately showing their size, shape and geographical position. It also includes a wealth of additional geographical information, such as major cities, transport routes, seaports, oceans, rivers, mountain ranges, deserts and important landscapes. With approximately 3,000 place names, it provides an impressive level of detail and educational value.
Mounted on a conical base and fitted with a polished metal meridian, this globe combines functionality with elegant design, making it an ideal object for a study, library or refined interior.
This item is new old stock and has never been sold. It comes from the legacy of the Eerste Nederlandsche Globe Industrie, adding exceptional provenance and collectability. The political information reflects the world map of the early 1980s, preserved in original, unused condition.
A fine and rare example of European globe-making craftsmanship — both informative and timelessly decorative.
