Description from the seller
Raul Barbieri “The Cactus” Coat Rack & Umbrella Stand for Rexite – Memphis Style Icon
Designed by Raul Barbieri for Rexite, The Cactus is an iconic example of Memphis-style postmodern design from the late 20th century, combining bold visual expression with everyday functionality.
Inspired by the organic form of a cactus, the piece features a striking sculptural silhouette and a vibrant color palette. The central structure is composed of black and blue metal, providing both visual contrast and structural stability. The branching cactus-style hooks, red circular accent, lower cylindrical “bottle” section, and base are all molded plastic, allowing for the playful forms and saturated colors characteristic of the Memphis movement.
The lower bottle-shaped section functions as an integrated umbrella holder, seamlessly incorporated into the overall design while enhancing its practical use. Both functional and decorative, this piece works equally well as an entryway coat rack or as a standalone design object.
