Italia, prima metà del XIX secolo
Incisione su carta raffigurante la Madonna col Bambino, con iscrizione “Refugium Peccatorum”, soggetto mariano di ampia diffusione nella devozione cattolica ottocentesca. La scena, racchiusa in ovale, è caratterizzata da delicata resa espressiva e da un impianto iconografico ispirato a modelli rinascimentali e barocchi.
L’opera è inserita in pregevole cornice lignea originale dell’epoca, interamente intagliata a mano, con raffinati motivi geometrici a spina di pesce, rosette e stelle, tipici della tradizione popolare dell’Italia settentrionale. Cornice realizzata specificamente per l’immagine sacra, con patina antica e usure coerenti con l’età.
