Description from the seller
Girard-Perregaux Cal. 72.1 Curvex – 18K Rose Gold (1958–1959)
Ready-to-wear heirloom piece, fully inspected by one of the best watch technicians in Europe. The watch was cleaned and lubricated prior to listing!
A refined and quietly exceptional example of mid-century Swiss haute horlogerie, this Girard-Perregaux Curvex from 1958–1959 embodies the golden age of dress watch design—where proportion, discretion, and mechanical purity reigned supreme.
Housed in a solid 18-carat rose gold Curvex case, weighting 11.4 grams in gold and over 1100 euro in gold value, the watch displays the elegant, gently arched profile that defined Girard-Perregaux’s most sophisticated rectangular creations of the era. The case remains beautifully preserved, with soft, honest edges that speak to careful wear and gentle polish, exactly as a serious collector would want.
At its heart beats the Girard-Perregaux Calibre 72.1, a manually wound movement renowned for its reliability, fine finishing, and precision. This example has been carefully regulated to –4 seconds per day, an excellent result for a movement of this vintage and a clear sign of competent servicing and mechanical health.
The movement itself displays classic mid-century architecture: clean bridges, precise screw placement, and the quiet confidence of a manufacture that never needed to shout.
Completing the ensemble is a period-appropriate leather strap, further underscoring the watch’s authenticity and completeness.
The watch will be shipped with secure protective packaging, full insurance, and tracking with an express carrier, the costs being supported by me.
Thank you for your time and happy treasure hunting!
