Ancestor figure - Dogon - Mali
Rare to find and a-typical tall ancestor figure used in ceremonies in the Pays Dogon of Mali. Very stylized carving with typical large Dogon ears. Elongated and slim figure. Very long arms held in front of the belly. These figures were placed in small ancestoral sheds, the "Binnu", where all the important sacred objects are held, used to consult with the ancestors in times of need. Nice dark patina. Collected in the village of Tirilli in the 1990`s.
