Description from the seller
Vintage cigarette box with a music box and a light-colored marquetry wooden dancer, mid-20th century.
Elegant salon cigarette case featuring a music box, made of light wood, most likely beech, and particularly remarkable for its very pretty decorative marquetry.
The woodworking is meticulous, with finely assembled geometric marquetry, playing on contrasts of natural and stained tones, giving the whole a refined, warm, and decorative appearance.
The interior is compartmentalized and includes: a grooved cigarette holder for organized storage, a music box mechanism animated by a miniature dancer, an iconic and sought-after element of this type of mid-20th-century music box.
The dancer, delicate and decorative, brings a poetic and refined touch to the object, enhancing its charm and collectible appeal.
The flat opening is ensured by original metal hinges, attesting to careful and durable manufacturing.
The set successfully combines utility and decorative aspects, and can be used as well as displayed in a showcase.
Note that one of the interior mirrors is missing.
A beautiful collectible object appreciated for its quality marquetry, featuring a music box with a dancer and its charm typical of elegant accessories from the 20th century.
The antique condition is consistent with age; the box shows visible signs, notably superficial scratches and marks on the top, as well as a small chip on the lid, visible in the photos.
The marquetry remains clearly readable and decorative despite these flaws.
The dancer is present, the music box works; see the photos, as they are part of the description.
