AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Hermès Square "Indian Flowers"

Designer: Aline Honoré

Giant, fanciful, undulating flowers…a magnifying glass settled on an Indian woman. This exuberant bloom, rich in color, draws inspiration from those painted or printed cottons that came from India in the late 16th century.
The French will relish them so much that a law came to ban them in 1686, in order to protect the silk workers of the Lyon region and the drapers of the North from this competition… and the enthusiasm only grew. The exotism and the charming simplicity of these fabrics appealed to the rich as well as to the humblest. Appearing in Marseille, the indiennes factories soon multiplied, entrusting to artists who specialized in flowers and to naturalists the task of drawing the motifs for these light fabrics.

These “flames of love” came from the Americas to please our eyes and enchant our salads by throwing there a touch of good humor. Some claim that they contain vitamin C, others a powerful antibiotic active against various words…
