Description from the seller

What is this exactly?
• Item: apothecary's mortar with pestle
• Material: Solid brass / bronze
• Special feature: Engraved decoration on both the mortar and the pestle
• Period: probably 19th century (ca. 1850–1900)
• Origin: probably Continental Europe (German / Austrian / French work)

The engravings, the shape of the foot, and the finished pestle point to a high-quality, handmade apothecary instrument, not a modern decorative reproduction.

state
• Very good original condition
• Beautiful, warm patina (unpolished → plus)
• Clear, but normal signs of use on the inside
• Original stamp and perfect fit
• No cracks, fractures or repairs visible

This is exactly the condition that collectors and interior buyers are looking for.

Why this is more valuable than a standard mortar
• Engraved (labor-intensive → higher original value)
Decorative and functional
• Complete and aesthetically strong
• Suitable for display cabinet, pharmacy interior, or classic desk
